My ways and by-ways – Jill’s jaunts, Cumbria

Here are some more photos from another little holiday I had a few years ago, back in April 2010. After my own home county of Yorkshire, Cumbria has to be my next favourite. I have always loved the Lake District because it has everything, and it’s only two hours away from me.

Although Windermere features in some of these photos, it is not the most striking lake at all. There are far prettier and much more dramatic places, but as this particular jaunt limited us to public transport, and was not a walking holiday, there was only so much we could do.

We got off the train at Windermere station as were staying there in a B&B. The lake was a couple of miles walk away in Bowness.
