I think today’s mushrooms are Yellow Waxcaps, also known as Butter Waxcaps. They seem to grow in clumps and prefer colder climates such as scandinavia and northern Europe. Out on a walk last week I noticed something grazing in a field. A splotched, horned, squat ‘summat-or-other’ – is it a cow, pig or goat? ‘Could be owt,’ I thought. This is the Colne Valley!
